How to Beat Writer's Block in 15 Steps

  1. Identify that you have writer's block by spending 3 hours writing absolute garbage, but then not deleting it because you have nothing else.
  2. Clean your bathroom, because it was on your to-do list anyway. Stop when you look up how to make a lemon scrub for your shower.
  3. Take a walk, not to avoid your responsibilities, but to "clear your head," which is the adult way of saying "avoid your responsibilities."
  4. Spend two hours talking to your editor about what you want to write, just to "test the waters." Then talk about Netflix.
  5. Go shopping for more materials to clean your bathroom, because nothing feels as good as a deep clean. Find none. Buy Cup Noodles instead.
  6. Watch YouTube videos and eat aforementioned noodles. Make sure it's a playlist, so that you don't have time to "get distracted" with other videos. Resolve to continue writing after you finish eating, then eat as slowly as possible. Ancient wisdom says this makes it taste better.
  7. Continue attempting to write. Don't look at the garbage you wrote earlier, it'll discourage you. Just add four page breaks above the garbage, and write more garbage. Then close the app.
  8. Do NOT switch topics. You've made a verbal commitment with your editor, and your toilet is shining. You have to finish.
  9. Go back to watching YouTube videos (binge-eating optional). Skip the playlists entirely; watch Buzzfeed videos. Stop the moment you say "just one more."
  10. Take another walk. If you consider writing about squirrels instead, refer to step 8. Go home when you consider calling your parents about the aforementioned squirrel.
  11. Do NOT text your editor about your struggles. Ancient wisdom says that they can smell fear. Instead, add six page breaks above the most recent garbage, and add to the pile. Do NOT light your computer on fire. It's not its fault you're bad at this.
  12. Give in and switch topics. Don't tell your editor.
  13. Submit your new topic, then turn off your phone. Ancient wisdom says that your editor can smell fear through texts.
  14. Discover that you no longer have writer's block. Angrily eat popcorn in a darkened room. Don't answer the door. Delete the garbage pile, then don't continue to write out of spite.
  15. Repeat.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
