With all the requirements of "beauty" these days, it is beginning to be so hard for people to just be themselves. In our culture, beauty is more about the outside rather than the inside. It's time for this ideology to stop. Beauty is about so much more than how you look or dress. We are pushed to be this unrealistic idea of perfection in looks, talents and manner. Being yourself has gone out of style.
The ideal woman should be tall (but not too tall), skinny (but not too skinny), have gorgeous flowing hair, have a perfect complexion, be amazing in the kitchen, want children and aspire to be the perfect wife. The ideal man should be tall, dark, handsome, fit, masculine and have the perfect job to bring home the bacon. Both of these people are pretty close to unreachable. It's okay for the wife to go to work and the dad to be a stay at home dad. It's okay for a woman to not want children or even not want to get married. It's okay to not be tall or not fit. A man does not have to be masculine to be a man. The only way for you to be perfect is to be yourself.
Our identity is not found in society's idea of the perfect person, but rather in Christ. You were beautifully and wonderfully made. He shaped you and molded you into the way that you are, and you should NEVER be ashamed of that.
These ideas of the "perfect" person are so incredibly flawed. Each of us was made different for a reason. The one thing that binds us together is the fact that we were made in His image. Stop and think about that. Out of all the living beings on this planet, we were made in His image. Instead of trying to sculpt who we are into this idea of "perfection," we should focus more on being ourselves.
To the women of the world, never let someone tell you that you're dreaming too big. Your dream is just that -- YOUR DREAM. It doesn't matter if someone else doesn't think you can reach it as long as you do. Waiting for the perfect man? Good! Wait, you deserve it. Trying to be the next big entrepreneur? Awesome! I believe in you. Don't let what society says stop you. You are never too big, skinny, or fragile to do what you can dream of, so dream big!
To the men of the world, don't let their idea of masculinity stop you from being you! A little on the feminine side? Who cares? Embrace it and do what you want to do. This world could use some more awesome stay at home dads. Is your masculinity getting in the way of people thinking that you have your own ideas? Show them who you really are.
Own who you are and never be afraid to show it. You were made beautiful in His eyes, and in the end, that's all that really matters.
