I have heard so many questions and remarks about trying to live a godly life as a young woman in today's society. Is it possible to live a life pleasing to the Lord on a college campus? How can you be set apart in a world that only focuses on the world's view of what a young woman should be, a world that wants women to conform to a standard of what to wear or say in order to be liked or loved. For whoever is reading this, I want you to know that you are a daughter of the most High King. Before you were born, your Creator had a divine and wonderful plan for your life, and you are destined for greatness. That surpassing truth should be fixed deep in your soul and be fundamental to every
decision you make as you grow into your own womanhood. The Lord is calling for women of this generation to leave behind our hinderances and rise up and walk in his will
I love this quote by Margaret Dyreng Nadauld that says, "Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity."
I believe the Lord has written clearly in his word how you can be a Woman of faith and virtue in this world and these are a few ways how.
1. Learn to seek His presence and his will. Daily.
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” – Matthew 6:33-34
2. Speak faith! Love others with a godly love. Speak with wisdom, boldness, and be kind.
"She opens her mouth in wisdom and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue." — Proverbs 31:26
3. Strive to have inward beauty; outward beauty fades.
Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised. – Proverbs 31:30
Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness. – 1 Timothy 2:9-10
4. Have a spirit of humility.
Be constantly aware of selfishness and pride. Learn to not think less of yourself, but think of yourself less.
“Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the LORD. “These arc the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.” – Isaiah 66:2
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 2:3-5
5. Serve the Lord to your fullest ability, always keeping your mind on Him and eternal things.
“He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.” – John 12:25-26
The Lord knows your name and knows your circumstance. He hears your prayers. He knows your hopes and dreams, and he knows your fears and frustrations. He knows what you can become through faith in Him and by walking in His plan. Learn to cherish your esteemed place in the sight of God. He needs you.
The church needs you. Your campus needs you. The world needs you. Be a woman of courage, strength and self-discipline. A woman of diligence. A woman of wisdom and discernment, a woman of compassion, a woman of beauty -- true beauty -- the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. A woman who loves much, because she has been forgiven much. A woman who takes refuge in God alone. A woman of valor who does not run fro the battle, but to it, fearlessly, relentlessly determined through her obedience to defeat the enemy and bring victory to herself and her people, to the glory of God and His eternal Kingdom
