This Thanksgiving break was just what I needed to finish out my semester and the rest of 2016. As I look back on the time that has passed and everything I've been through this year; physically, mentally and emotionally, I am content. I feel a sense of pride in myself and those around me. There is so much that I have pushed through and past. I know that there are various obstacles ahead, I'm not sure if I'm ready but I say, "Come what may."
I am so thankful for where I am. Honestly, there is nothing that I am missing or in dire need of at this moment. From being a writer for the odyssey, spending another year in AOII, working with some awesome people as a Resident Assistant and growing so much in all aspects of my life; I'm grateful for each and every opportunity.
I thank the man upstairs every single day for the good and the bad, the storms of life and the walks in the park. Whether I am in bed with pizza and wings or running around on ramen noodles and winks of sleep. I am thankful for one share just as I am for 200 shares on my articles. I rejoice over a dollar in my pocket the same way that I would for a paycheck at the end of the week. Just yesterday I was on cloud 9 because I was able to see my best friend of 10 years for 3 hours before she had to go back to California. I appreciate each moment that I spend on this earth and for all that I experience and learn. All is well.
Tis the season to be thankful, grateful, and love on the people around you. Sometimes we just need that simple reminder. It's even easy to forget that someone has less than half of what you possess and things could always be worse. These aren't just words. Seriously, for all things we should be thankful. Moving from one great time of the year to the next, carry this thankful spirit into the Christmas holiday. Instead of focusing on all of the gifts you may or may not receive. Get the Christmas playlist going, mine was ready october 27th (judgment doesn't bother me). Break out those trees and dress them up. Fix hot cocoa and bake cookies shaped like snowmen. This Christmas season, be sure to bask in the gift love from those around you.
But first, Finals.
