The different scents, many broken candles, hours of floor set. The hours of lining up products and trying to make them look perfectly even. Looking for a product in the back and not being able to find it anywhere. These are all the many perks of working at Bath & Body Works. If you work at Bath & Body Works, you'll understand these.
1. Practicing demos
Right when you start working, there you have to learn the ropes. It takes a while to get in a groove, but you learn by doing (or so you're told). You work with a manager or a worker who's experienced. And of course, they make you practice demos on them. Rubbing lotion all over your manager's hand is awkward. Let's leave it at that.
2. Oh, oil
When you're restocking shelves of wallflowers plug ins, you just take a handful and put them in its containers. You know the feeling when you pick up a couple, and you can suddenly feel the oil all over your hands. One of those suckers broke and no one knew. So your hands will smell like Bergamot Waters, Japanese Cherry Blossom or whatever one decided to break.
3. Looking for something?
You're sent on a mission to find a product. You trek out to the back room and hope you don't get lost in the aisles with boxes and boxes. You begin your journey hopeful, but as you continue searching with no luck, you begin to doubt. You then realize it was in the first aisle you looked in but thrown in a box that had a different name on it. It's cool.
4. They all fall down
You are assigned to redo a table on floor set night, you work for an hour at least putting the products in a nice and neat little ordered line. Everything looks flawless until you see the one on the top is turned a little bit. You go to straighten it out and hit the one below it, causing a domino effect. All your hard work is now on the ground. Back to square one!
Through the awkward massaging of hands, smelling like a walking candle (that's way too strong), getting lost in the labyrinth that is the back room, playing dominos with the products you spent hours putting up and all the other somewhat downfalls of the job, there's so much to love about being an associate at Bath & Body Works. It's your co-workers who actually care about you and learn to laugh with you over the small things, it's the costumers you get to help and find them exactly what they want, it's actually liking the products you work with. Working at Bath & Body Works is a roller coaster through personal ups and downs. Sometimes, things happen and you get so frustrated. Other times, you help a costumer and you can see how great you made their experience, and it's all worth it. If you work at Bath & Body Works, you understand.
