On Wednesday, September 2, the "DWTS" cast for the 2020 season was announced on "Good Morning America". The celebrity lineup includes faces such as rapper Nelly, coach Monica Aldama of "Cheer", Aj McClean of the Backstreet Boys, and of course, the lovely (and alleged murderer) Carole Baskin.
It feels like Baskin has been a part of our lives for a long time now, but in reality, the "Tiger King" craze was just five months ago, at the start of quarantine. Since then, we have all come to know Baskin as the crazy (big) cat lady. Oh, and some have come to view her as a crazed husband killer.
But apparently, having a large portion of your following thinking you're a killer does not disqualify you from being able to participate in reality TV shows such as "Dancing with the Stars". To be fair, the rumor was started by Joe Exotic who is currently in prison for the next 22 years for killing tigers and trying to hire a hitman for, you guessed it, Carole Baskin.
In case you are a stable human with a productive life and thus have not seen "Tiger King", Exotic suggested that Baskin's missing husband, Don Lewis, was actually murdered by Baskin and that she fed him to their tigers so that she could have the Big Cat Rescue, the big cat sanctuary they owned, all to herself. Lewis went missing over 20 years ago in 1997 and has never been found. He was declared dead in 2002. She remarried in 2004.
The theory that Baskin killed her husband can be supported by some marital turmoil in the months leading up to his disappearance, but there is no proof and limited solid evidence to suggest that Baskin killed her husband.
Whether or not Carole Baskin killed her husband is not important right now, though. She will be a part of the upcoming season of "DWTS", and I don't think having a prison inmate accuse her of murder is a good enough excuse to not invite her to the show, but rather a good excuse to invite her. I only know one thing for sure: for the first time, I will be watching "Dancing with the Stars".
