It's pretty safe to say everyone and their mother (quite literally) uses social media nowadays. With various platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube, Tumblr, and more, we're given a multitude of options. It gives us the opportunity to keep in touch with the people we know and love, or connect with people we otherwise wouldn't be able to meet.

With social media's undeniable presence in today's world also comes 'social norms' we're encouraged to follow when posting. From optimal Instagram posting times to the acceptable length of a Snapchat story, many rules accompany social media. As if these unwritten rules weren't enough, there are also several habits that we have fallen into when posting on social media. Day in and day out, you're bound to see at least a few of these posts when scrolling through your feed. Here are nine types of posts that you're most likely to encounter on any given day:

1. The weather condition.

Whether it's raining, snowing, sunny, or anything in between, all you have to do is look on Snapchat and Instagram to see what's up with the weather. So if by any chance you don't own a window or a weather app, social media's got you covered.

2. That couple is still together.

In case you forgot that 'that couple' was still madly in love and are celebrating their 3-year anniversary, they'll make sure to remind you. They'll also let you know how much they've grown together, how they couldn't live without one another, and maybe throw in a cute pet-name they call each other.

3. The sun did, in fact, set.

This once again applies to the off-chance that you don't own a window. Even though it happens every day, it never fails to end up on a Snapchat story.

4. People party.

Whether you're in high school, college, or well out of out of college, there seems to be a pressure to prove you have a social life. What better way than to excessively post about how much fun you have on every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday?

5. Who had a beach day.

Hot dogs or legs, am I right ladies?

6. Everyone's newest tattoo, piercing, or haircut.

Pretty sure people only post these because they're almost guaranteed to rack in the likes. How else are people supposed to know that you're edgy?

7. People's exact location.

You know this especially well if you're friends on Snapchat with any world travelers. While it's pretty cool to see the new places some people are visiting, we all know where you've been going to college for the past 7 months or what town you grew up in.

8. Who ate delicious food.

This one might be the hardest to scroll past, especially when you have the tendency to get hangry (hungry+angry) like I do.

9. Whether or not someone exercises.

To confirm that you do, in fact, lift, bro. While exercise is super important, I can pretty much guarantee no one cares how many miles you ran or how much you can bench press.

I am in no way claiming to be exempt from any of the things on this list. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've posted all of the above and will probably continue to do so. And if you also do any (or all) of the above, it is by no means a bad thing! I'm just poking a little fun at our generation's social media tendencies because at the end of the day, we're all a little bit basic. Embrace it!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
