Basic Girls Love Halloween
Start writing a post
For college students, Halloween always seems to be rather anticlimactic. With countless Thursday evenings spent dressing up in absurd outfits ranging from sailors to chicken costumes, Halloween is just another costume. Luckily, the costume excitement is somehow maintained by the basic girls on campus. You know who Im talking about. The rain boots, leggings and spirit jersey girl. Weve all been this girl and although some of us decide to kick it up a notch for Halloween and wear a costume that really “wows, there will be plenty of sexy cats and sailors to go around. For the most basic of holidays, here are the top three reasons why basic girls love Halloween.
1. Basic Costumes
Halloween provides the ultimate freedom of choice when it comes to the costume. Girls aren
t constrained by awful exchange themes like all denim or '80s workout. Its the perfect time to get creative or be really really basic. Sometimes great costume ideas develop, but the actual execution of the costume prevents the ultimate success.  Sure dressing up as "50 Shades of Grey" covered in multi-shade grey paint swatches sounds awesome, but too time consuming. Of course, being a bottle service babe, rockinthe peplum dress like Kimmy K, is appealing, but usually too much work. Thats why the go-to sexy kitty costume or the naughty nurse, or police officer, or workout girl are everywhere. Theyre easy. Were basic. Sorry.

2. Matching
Girls love any situation where they can all match. Body-con dresses for impromptu? Yes. Groufit sisterhood bar crawl? Yes. It might be basic, but at least it
s a group effort. Halloween provides the perfect opportunity for endless matching. Not only can everyone wear the same shiny silver dress and tape an Absolut logo on their stomach, but group costumes like the cheetah girls and power girls are fair game too. Basic x100 (or how ever many girls are in on the costume).

3. ShowinOff
Although people will most likely still make comments on promiscuous costumes, Halloween provides the opportunity to show off a little more skin than usual. Halloween is like pre-Spring Break. Somehow all the girls have been able to maintain their fall fitness routine and now they can show off their hot bods. Breaking out the mermaid costume to show off the full tummy or the naughty school girl to showcase perfectly toned legs from squatting, Halloween is the time.

Were all basic at some point during Halloween. Maybe youre the girl drinking way too many whiskey cokes at the pre-game. You might be the super sexy nurse showing too much leg and too much cleavage. You might be the most basic of all dressed as a tiger with all fifteen of sorority sisters, but dont worry. Were all basic sometimes. Some girls more than others. Spirit jersey rain boot girl, Im talking to you. So let the countdown begin basics, Halloween is waiting for you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
