I am a big baseball fan, and anyone who knows me would know that. But I am more than just a fan of the baseball players themselves. I have seen the ins and outs of how Major League Baseball works, and it takes everyone, and that includes the wives of the players.
Kourtney Turner, the wife of Los Angeles Dodgers' infielder, Justin Turner, is just one example of how awesome these wives are. Kourtney is the co-president of The Justin Turner Foundation whose mission is to "support homeless veterans, children (and their families) battling life-altering illnesses and diseases and various youth baseball organizations."
Whenever Justin wants to give away some signed baseball items to veterans in the stands of Dodger Stadium, Kourtney is the one to deliver those items to give the receivers a personal feel. So, without Kourtney, those items would be delivered by someone who was not a Turner.

But more than just running a foundation, the wives have to run the lives of these players. Imagine, your husband did not do too hot in a game, and he comes home looking a little glum. The wife is the person who has to cheer him up and tell him that he will get it next time. But that job cannot be easy. I am sure there are times when the wife wants to say, "Yeah, you were awful tonight," but that would only make matters worse. The wives are the people responsible for the whole mood of the player, which can affect the whole mood of the clubhouse.
The wives have to spend the majority of the year on airplanes and in different cities. The baseball season is from March to October, which means they cannot go on a warm vacation in the United States, but if they want to go to the beach in the offseason, they have to go out of the country (or to Hawaii).
They have to deal with losing the world series (for Kourtney that is two times in a row she has had to deal with that). They have to potentially move to a city overnight because their husbands got traded. They have to make new friends if they are the "new girl in town."
And why do they make these sacrifices? So the man they love can live out his dream.
