So you're packing for college and you're trying to figure out what you all need to bring. Between deciding which shoes you should bring, to calculating how many pairs of leggings you are going to realistically need (given that they're probably all you'll be wearing), the stress of packing can feel like a lot.

In the midst of all of this though, there is one essential thing that will become your actual savior in college that you must not forget! What is it you ask? Well, surprise, it's your baseball cap! You know, the one that's your favorite that you always wear in the summer. Wondering why exactly? Let me give you a few reasons...

1. Bad hair day? No problemo

Every single human being has had a bad hair day. It's unavoidable. In college though, sometimes bad hair days are every other day. Between staying up late studying and not wanting to shower, to waking up in morning after going out the night before with what looks like a bird's nest, hair dilemmas have just become a normal part of the college life.

2. Trying to avoid being seen by your ex on your walk to class? Got it covered

Thought your 8:30 a.m. class was terrible enough already? Well, one thing that is sure to make it worse is accidentally making awkward eye contact with your ex, or that boy you had a thing with, as you pass them by on the sidewalk, attempting not to be late to class for the 7th time in a row.

3. Unfortunately, sometimes hairdressers mess up. But no need to worry!

Went to the hairdresser for a touch-up and they accidentally turned your blonde-dyed hair into yellow hair? Or maybe they accidentally gave you the Britney Spears buzz cut? Well, thank goodness you've got your hat, am I right?

4. Wanna look just a little bit cooler? We've got the trick for you

I mean it doesn't always work but... might as well at least try to look 10% as cool as Missy Elliott or Chance the Rapper.

5. When its bright outside but you don't want to get a sunglasses tan, it's the perfect solution

Not only do you want to prevent skin cancer at all costs, but also, there's nothing more embarrassing than discovering big white circles surrounding your eyes following a day of hanging out in the sun with your sunglasses on, resulting in an appearance similar to that of a raccoon.

6. We all need naps. Some of us just choose to take them during lectures

There is nothing more relatable to college students than how exhausted we all are, both mentally and physically. This means that sometimes we just have to find ways to take naps whenever and wherever we can. A hat can at least make it so that the professor doesn't notice. Hopefully...

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
