District attorney Candidate Joseph V. Treanor III has been weary of the recent public corruption within the political realm, stringing ties within the Buffalo Billion program. The Buffalo Billion program is a one billion investment into the Buffalo economy in which is used to create thousands of jobs and improve its structural stability. It projects new investments within the community and helps establish the new modern world. With the recent arrests that have been happening, more security and regulation needs to be done in order to combat corruptive officials against using public funds to establish private gains. It’s a concept that SUNY Buffalo State professor Dr. Patrick McGovern describes as the “private capture of public goods”, and it’s hurting the city of buffalo.
The crimes have been committed from public officials such as state officials, contract businessman in connection with these economic initiative programs; one of those being the Buffalo Billion program which was establish by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. Buffalo has experienced problems like this before, with Buffalo political operative Steven Pigeon indicted for bribery and extortion within state election. In response to the recent capture of public officials abusing power within the program, Joseph Treanor noted that actions will be taken; and that his office “will not require a downstate U.S. attorney to ferret out crimes like bribery, bid-rigging and major election law violations”.
If elected as District attorney, Treanor plans on changing the structure of public investment and political participation by using his powers to operate without the use and reliability of big interest donors and company investors. He also if elected, plans to accept no contributions from any campaign that he runs and follows up with stern strict policy to uphold the public integrity, and the will of the city of Buffalo.
Corruption within government is common in various major corporations, regarding million dollar investments. the structure of this system does not look after its investments, leaving corrupt public officials to take advantage of the money without consequence. Policy must be set in place in order to maintain the level of corruption faced within the Buffalo Community. The city have been facing major heartache and is attempting to rebuild itself from the staggering process of deserters. With proper management, we can prevent and reinforce the security of the city's investment.
Because Its the city that prospers... not the elites...
