It’s always good to have a group chat to come to for laughs, love, and support.
Each person brings something different to the conversation; every person possesses different qualities and plays different roles in the group chat.
If you are part of a great group chat with great friends, this will be a great read for you!
In my group chat, we have four types of people (which you will read about below) - we are all different in every way you could possibly imagine, but somehow we’ve kept our friendship (and group chat) alive for almost five years.
The Barbie: Every group chat has a Barbie. The one who drinks more wine than she does water, who owns more Tori Burch Handbags than she does socks, who plays the guitar and sings better than Taylor Swift, and the one who doesn’t leave the house until she looks better than Barbie herself. The one that has a witty attitude and is ready to come at you with a hysterically smart aleck comment 24/7 365, and the one who is always up for fine dining and street shopping. As beautiful and put together as she is when she steps out the door, she’s a complete mess when she’s in with her friends. She’s an ice cream eating, Netflix watching, dirty clothes wearing, pizza in bed kind of girl. She never fails to catch us up on the latest Netflix trends and she never disappoints us when we’re looking for laughs and love.
If you think that all group chats Barbie’s are only beautiful on the outside, then you have obviously never met my amazingly smart, gorgeously tan, wine tote-carrying best friend, Lauren.
If your group chat doesn’t have a Blonde Barbie, then you might as well find some new friends.
The Wild One: Every group chat has a wild one. The one that went straight to college and made her life completely fun – the one who enjoys parties, has tattoos and piercings, has a full-time job, and somehow still manages to kick butt at school as well as maintain a 3.0 GPA.
The one who mutes group chat from time to time, but always comes back in at the right time. The one who calls you out and tells you how it is regardless of whose feelings she hurts. The one who knows you better than you know yourself.
She’s as loud as she is fun, as crazy as she is smart and as loving as she is determined. Whoever said you can’t have the best of both worlds by enjoying everything life has to offer all while making a great career for yourself has obviously never met my rice making, kitchen dancing, Pageant loving Puerto-Rican best friend, Justice.
If your group chat doesn’t have a Juicy J, then you might as well find some new friends.
The Guy: Every group chat has to have at least one guy. The one who is opinionated but not bias, the one who always is up to date on the latest news, and the one who is always on standby to be your fake boyfriend or brother whenever you may need him. The one who eats a ridiculous amount of Chick-Fil-A and Taco Bell. The one who enters your house without knocking, walks past the couch and straight to the fridge, then plops himself right in front of your TV and makes himself at home. The only guy (literally) that is allowed in your house when your parents aren’t home, and the only guy that your boyfriend isn’t jealous of because he knows that he’s basically family. The one that is generally completely clueless as to what is even being said in the group chat most of the time but is always there to send random emoji’s that seem to fit the conversation.
He may be insanely clueless to the conversations from time to time, but he is spot on when it comes to life advice and being there for you no matter what. He’s always in bed watching Netflix or playing pool on his phone, so if you ever need a friend to run to the store with, get a pedicure with, or go get a midnight donut with, he’s available. Whoever said that a girl and guy can’t be friends without having a relationship has obviously never met my Carrie Underwood listening, Hair Flipping, Fatty food loving best friend, Jordan Rich.
If your group chat doesn’t have a J-Dog, then you might as well find some new friends.
The Fun One: The one who doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life, she just knows she wants to live it to the fullest. The one who often makes poor life decisions learns from them and then laughs them off. The one who doesn’t know what she’s having for lunch today, much less how she’s going to pay for it because she spent all of her money driving hundreds of miles the weekend before to see Luke Bryan in concert. The one who works countless hours a week, yet still makes time for her friends, family, and school. The one laughs too loud, sings in the car more than anyone should, dances with random people in Wal-Mart, and who is always up for a late night Sonic run. The one who jokes more than she is serious, Forgives more than she should, and Lends a hand to those is need. She sends more screenshots of Facebook post’s than she does actual texts, and she always is ready to defend her friends when someone is talking smack. She may be completely undecided on what she is going to do tomorrow, much less 10 years from now, but she is 100% determined to have fun in everything that she does. It doesn’t matter if she’s spending her weekend house sitting or if she’s out with friends – she is going to have the time of her life either way. After all, Brunettes have more fun, right?
Whoever said that you can’t go to school online, work numerous jobs, and still live your life to the fullest has obviously never met the Nashville Loving, Luke Bryan Listening, Netflix Watching brunette - Sarah Hoynes.
If your group chat doesn’t have a Pentecostal Skirt, then you might as well find some new friends.
This article was such a fun one for me to write (aside from having to write an entire paragraph about myself). I asked my friends to describe me and tell me things that I bring to the group, and I used their comments to create my paragraph.
I absolutely LOVE our group chat and all three of my best friends. There are days when I honestly don’t know what I would have done without these three being my support system and my laughter. From living 5 miles apart to now living 200 miles apart, we still talk on a daily basis and are here for each other no matter what.
I love you guys so much, thank you for being my people <3
