Keeping a healthy balance between your relationship with a significant other and everything else going on in your hectic, everyday lives can be somewhat difficult at times. Not to mention, while being an over-involved college student! It's hard to not want to spend every free moment with the person you love, but it's important to find the appropriate medium to keep things happy and healthy. Plus, do you really wanna be known as THAT GIRL who spends too much time with her boyfriend? Absolutely not.
1. SCHOOL
School is probably the most significant thing going on in your life right now. It's very important to keep on top of your work because it's your future we're talking about here, ladies! Never mind the crazy amount of money spent to come to this place. It's essential to keep on task with classes, homework, and extra-curricular activities. Don't stress yourself out too much though! A great way to balance your relationship with school is to reward yourself. Go to class and get a little homework done before having your super steamy "Netflix and chill" date or even go to the library and do some homework together. Having all your responsibilities taken care of before spending time with your better half is the way to go. That way, your mind isn't elsewhere when trying to spend quality time together. Your significant other should be your biggest supporter and always encourage you to always have your best foot forward.
2. FRIENDS
Your friends at school are like your second family when you're away from home. They're the ones who are always there for you. The ones who justify and make you feel better about the stupid decisions you made the night before. The ones who've seen you at your lowest points and still love you to pieces. That's why it's tremendously important to never ever forget about them. They've been here since day one. It's okay to stay in with your girls, watch stupid movies, and pig out. They deserve your time, too. It's important to still make them feel special and let them know that you love them back, even when you've fallen head over heels for your guy. Make a plan to designate at least one day of the week to your friends and give them your undivided attention. Let them know you're making the effort to keep them as special as they were before getting into a relationship. It's also important to remember not to leave your guy out either. He's special too. Set aside a special time for him as well to do your favorite activities together. Some nights you can even combine the two, friends and the beau, and enjoy the best of both worlds. It makes it so much easier for everyone when he gets along with your friends!
3. YOU
The number one person in your life that you need to take care of is yourself. It's vital to take some alone time every once and a while to just chill and unwind. It's perfectly okay to wear sweatpants, have your hair tied and chill with no make-up on. You need the time to just do you. Set aside time to go on a shopping spree, get a relaxing mani/pedi, or even hit the gym and run three miles to Beyonce. Once you pamper and enjoy yourself, spend time with your special guy and have the time of your life. P.S., make sure he appreciates all the work you put into taking care of yourself because damn, is he lucky to have you.
