A Letter To The Girl Who Is Supposed To Be The Happy One

A Letter To The Girl Who Is Supposed To Be The Happy One

To the girl that feels like she is breaking,

You will be okay. You will get through this little patch. I know everything feels like it's going wrong, classes, work, friendships, relationships, literally everything. But I promise, it will be okay and it is never as bad as it seems.

You are the girl who is always helping people and bringing people up, but sometimes you need to take care of yourself first. It is okay to take a break and focus on yourself. It is doubly okay for you to just tell people how you feel, and be the one who gets some help this time.

That test you stayed in all weekend to study and you only ended up getting a B… it happens and it is okay. The only thing you can do about it now is laugh it off.. Or maybe figure out what questions you got wrong.. But mainly just laugh. It is totally okay to not be perfect at everything. Sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day to get a 4.0 when you are taking 20 credits, and that is okay.

The feeling of loneliness even though you are surrounded by your friends is totally okay. This might be the scariest part of this, but just know you are never ever alone even though you feel like there is no one. In times like this it is so important to fall in love with yourself, be so comfortable with yourself that you don't need someone else to fill this comfort. Sure, you can always let more people in but first loving yourself and your own company is an insurance that you will never be alone, which is pretty stinking cool.

Feeling drained and defeated is no fun feeling, and despite what everyone tells you, "that's not the attitude" or "just be happy", it is not this easy. While yes, they mean so well, for us, for the ones who do truly want to be happy and feel light and happy like usual, this hits us the hardest. Not only are we just plain not happy, but we are also sad about being sad, quite the concept. Just know, your friends are trying to help the best that they can but even they aren't used to seeing you like a deflated balloon.

On the bright side, you will make it through this, the hard week full of exams will end, you will get enough sleep one night and everything will be worth it in the end. It is totally fine to break a little in the process, so long as you pick yourself right back up and move the heck on. This struggle will end even when you feel like it will be impossible for you to ever feel like you once had before.

And this breakthrough will feel so so so great, I promise. Whether it is just a good long laugh with your besties, or a shopping trip for some retail therapy, or even just dressing up in a cute outfit.

To the girl who feels like she's breaking, go ahead and let yourself break, give yourself that and then pick yourself back up and know you will be okay. Stop feeling as though your feelings aren't valid because you are the happy and positive one. You can't please everyone if you can't please yourself first.

From,

The girl who isn't breaking anymore

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
