1. You don't talk things out

If any time you get mad or upset with someone and you shut them out for weeks or months this is a good sign you're not being as good as a friend as you might think. Good friends talk things out and either forgive and forget or end the friendship for good. Needing time to cool off is one thing but always giving people the silent treatment instead of working things out isn't healthy.

2. You don't have your friends' backs

You don't have to agree with everything your friend does but it's important that you support them on the things that matter most to them. If your friend is in a tough situation you can't just run away and try to avoid supporting them.

3. You don't make time for them

I get it everyone is busy but going a year or more without seeing someone that lives in the same city with you because you don't want to put in the effort can make your friends feel like they don't matter.

4. You're only around for the good times

If the only time you come around is for the good times chances are you aren't as good of a friend as you think. No one is perfect and everyone has bad days.

There are just certain things you don't do to your friends. Going after people they are dating or dated doesn't make you a good friend. Always ask before pursuing an ex or current interest. You can really hurt your friends by crossing this line and even if you have good intentions it can come off the wrong way.

6. You don't keep their secrets

If anytime any of your friends tells you something they want kept a secret and you instantly go tell everyone you know regardless of your intentions this can leave your friends feeling like you don't care and that they can't trust you. Unless the secret puts your friend's safety at risk there is no reason to be spreading it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
