Some people wonder what the key is to having a great wardrobe. My answer to that is basics. Having basic pieces in your wardrobe will always ensure you to look chic and classy. One of the items that I think everyone should have, is a plain white t-shirt. You can pair it up with so many things, liked ripped jeans, a skirt or even yoga pants for a more relaxed look. The good thing about a plain white t-shirt is that you can add anything you want to it to accessories. For example, a long necklace or a hat for fall. I think it is a piece that can let you express your style by what you add to it.
Another basic piece that looks great is a little black dress. There are so many different styles of a little black that it really depends on what you like and what suites your body type. Personally, I like the fit and flare because it snugs you in at the waist and flows out. The good thing about a black dress is that you can were it as a casual look or for a more professional setting. Going into fall and essential would be a pair of boots.
For this fall, suede boots are really in style. I love the suede boots because I feel like it really stretches out the legs and they can be worn with jeans, pants, skirts and dresses. Steve Madden does a really good job of having a variety of suede boots. If you are not into a high boot, then a good alternative is a bootie. I think they look very chic with a pair of black tights and a swing dress.
Another one of my basics is a pair of ripped jeans. I absolutely love them because they add just a little bit of edginess to any look. They also come in black or white which helps you do different looks according to the seasons. Something else that I love is a nice turtle neck sweater for winter and fall. They are so versatile to wear and they come in all kinds of colors and materials. I feel like pairing a grey turtle neck and black ripped jeans with a black bootie is so chic and edgy for this upcoming fall season.
One of the basic things about having a good wardrobe is having a lot of neutral colors that can be accessorized with pops of color here and there. I love to combine black and white, but then I will add a pop of red with my purse. You can also do this with your make up, for example adding a red lip. Basic pieces are like a blank canvas to where you can add your personality and individuality to really make an outfit your own. It is such a good way to style because you know you are not going too overboard with colors and prints because you have that blank canvas to start from.
