Hi, I’m Lulu Bauermeister. I’m a junior majoring in psychology with minors in management, leadership and public health. My grind never stops, but I work hard and play harder. I aspire to be a D1 type of a person, so put me in coach!

How would your friends describe you?

“Lulu’s the ultimate dingus.”

My friends would say I’m friendly, slightly nerdy, goofy, very ambitious, and kinda funny.

So, rumor has it you broke your face playing flag football...do tell!

I wish it was fake news, but you betcha I did.

I was trying to blitz the QB but collided heads with my teammate. I ended up going to the hospital later that night because I was nauseous. The CT scans showed I shattered multiple bones in my face and suffered a zygomaticomaxillary complex fracture. I had reconstructive surgery and had permanent titanium plates inserted, but I bounced back in a week to serve on the Homecoming Court.

Why are you the perfect catch for someone?

Your girl is the perfect catch because I’m out here living my best life. I’m definitely an outgoing, social person, but I love having deep talks. Even though I’m a hype girl, I know how to j chill for a groovy time. I’m a Spotify fanatic with a range of music taste from EDM to country to rap and alternative. I’ve worn makeup once since coming to college, but I’m still a #beaut. I love sports, hiking and staying active. I workout and squat every day at the Rec, because I’m tryna make the gains, but also to combat my high cholesterol. I’m a huuuuge foodie. I love pizza, donuts, avocados, dill pickles, ice cream and hash browns.

What do you look for in the ideal partner?

They are comfortable and confident with their personality, interests and values, but are open to exploring and new adventures. They balance hitting the books as hard as they hit the dance floor. The ideal partner is best of all worlds and well-rounded.

What are your L’s? I’ve been told to ask.

Yikes, you can’t spell Lulu without a couple L’s.

I took an L at Spring Jam while dartying. I was literally just walking on the sidewalk and tripped, but my ankle ended up looking like this.

Cats of Dogs?

DOGGOS. My family fosters rescue dogs!

What is your favorite kind of pizza?

Anyone who asks me on a pizza date already has a pizza my heart. My fave is supreme with bacon, ham, pepperoni, peppers, olives, mushrooms, hash browns and lots of cheese.

What’s your ideal date?

My ideal date is going hammocking and then walking to the Stone Arch Bridge to get Izzy’s ice cream. Afterward, we go out to dinner, ideally an all-you-can-eat buffet, and then go to a Twins game where we also get the bucket of mini donuts.

Biggest pet peeve?

My biggest pet peeve is when people doubt how much I can eat.

Most attractive quality in a partner?

Empathy.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
