Let's talk about sex and music! Without question, sex is preferred without music playing. It adds to the closeness and what not. However, given the right song, music can be quite the aphrodisiac. So, I have complied a list of 3 songs from the 1970's to the 2010's that will guarantee that 9 months after putting these song to use, you'll have musical babies roaming around.
The 1970s
3. "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye
A true staple of the bedroom. Hell, it's basically a musical instruction manual for sex. You put this song on and you instantly know what time it is. It's almost a cliche which is why it is ranked lowest on the 1970s scale. However, it's a cliche for good reason. Unlike, crappy Charlie Puth songs that reference it, this is genuinely sexy.
2. "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Baby" by Barry White
The 1970s were far from subtle in their musical approach to making sweet, sweet love. This is no exception. With the astounding vocal talent of Barry White, that will make any frisky couple in the world play a nice wholesome game of naked Twister, this song is enough to send shivers down the spine. If you can't look your lover in the eye when hearing Barry and not feel that passion, you are with the wrong person.
1. "Shining Star" by Earth, Wind & Fire.
A bit of an unconventional choice, but it wouldn't be the 1970s without a bunch of funk. This song perfectly encapsulates the funk needed to make sweet love. I'm sure there were plenty of hippie vans bouncing hardcore to this song. It also works as a prelude to the actual intercourse. You can dance to it vertically and horizontally. That's the beauty of this classic.
The 1980s
3. "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey
Because this song has to be on every list when it involves '80s music. I mean, it's the greatest song of all time and anybody who says otherwise is a damn liar. This song seriously works with someone you really love. That is the only time you can crack this gem out when you making sensual human salad. It's a risk, but pay anything to roll the dice just one more time.
2. "Into The Groove" by Madonna.
The cliche Madonna song to put on the list would be, "Like A Virgin." For pretty obvious reasons I think the idea of that being a sex song is creepy. "Into The Groove," however, is a masterpiece of bed rattling. It works as a strip song so perfectly.
1. "I Want to Know What Love Is" by Foreigner.
Closing out the songs from the greatest decade is Foreigner. Unlike Forrest Gump, Foreigner doesn't know what love is. They want you to show them. This sentiment is fuel to any romantic chemistry. It's a slow glam rock jam that will keep both hearts beating as a fever pitch. The music, the vocal and the lyrics come together perfectly to get you and your romantic partner to come together perfectly.
The 1990s
3. "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" by Bryan Adams.
I think it's practically a fact that every child born in the '90s was conceived to this song. It really is the "I want to know what love is" of the 1990s. The mood is captured within the first few seconds of the song. A song about love and devotion, kinda hard for it not to make a list like this.
2. "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith
What Bryan Adams did for the human population at the start of the 1990s, Aerosmith did for the end of the 1990s. Probably the most iconic Aerosmith song, they give the gift that kept giving and giving. It's almost too easy to put this on the list, but here we are.
1. "Pony" by Ginuwine
You knew this song was going to be on the list before even clicking on it. It's basically a freebie like "Let's Get It On." The constant burping beat miraculously makes for a sexy mood setter. Ginuwine may not be good at spelling (Seriously, "Ginuwine?), but he is damn good at getting listeners to get filthy while playing his music. That's genuine.
The 2000s
3. "Candy Shop" by 50 Cent.
The 2000s is when everything went to hell. Music just kind of stopped being sexy and just became flat out filthy. The other decades weren't subtly in their approach but there was a sweetness about those songs. A sincerity to them. It just showcases how different our culture is compared to yesteryear. Anyway, it was either between "Lollipop" by Lil Wayne or this. Both songs are about as romantic and sexy as a punch to the crotch but the 2000s had to be represented and these were the two songs that mirrored where we were as a society. I choose this one because it sounds a tiny bit more sincere and I guess the beat is good enough for a quickie.
2. "Dirty Little Secret" by All-American Rejects
When sex songs in the 2000s weren't sounding flat out sinister like "Candy Shop" they were extremely fast paced. This song is on the list solely because the idea behind it can be kind of sexy for some. The idea of being a dirty little secret kept from the world. I'm sure it gets somebodies rocks off. The vocals aren't too bad either.
1. "Sexy Back" by Justin Timberlake
Thank God for Justin Timberlake. He is literally the only big hit of the 2000s that got the suave nature of sex down to a tee. He really did bring the sexy back to music. The beat by producer Timberland matched with the vocal stylings of Timberlake blend beautifully to make the perfect song to get down to, in many ways than one.
The 2010s
3. "Take Me To Church" By Hoizer
This may be a highly unconventional choice but I don't know. What I do know is that every time I hear this song, I think to myself, "this would probably be a bomb ass sex song." The somber tone for whatever reason just works for that particular frame of mind. It's also a song that compares love to religion. Now, that is some powerful stuff that could easily put someone off. It's an odd pick, but I can't help but believe it's worthy of being mentioned here. So, someone have sex to this song and tell me if it works. (Kidding, kidding. Don't kiss and tell.)
2. "Teenage Dream" by Katy Perry
The 2010s were a step in the proper direction on getting back to romantic and sexy music. It wasn't so much of "Bang me now!" It was more like, "Bang me now -- please." Any improvement is still improvement. "Teenage Dream" is a sweet little love song that encapsulates that feeling of young love. This song is kind of underrated in that regard. For all these reasons and more, it's worth using in the bedroom.
1. "Love Me Like You Do" by Ellie Goulding
It's relatively fitting that this is the song to close us out here. It hits on every point of passion needed to sleep with someone. The sincerity, the lust, the desire, the sense of adventure, all of it. If someone were to ask me what sex and love feels like, I wouldn't quote "Afternoon Delight" I'd quote this one. If you get it, you get it. If you don't, you don't. Just the way this is comprised and structured just rings a bell. It's a shame this song was roped in with a sexually horrific creation like "50 Shades Of Grey," but it stands on it's own and I'm sure it'll keep both parties happy in the bedroom for generations to come.
