If you’re on a gluten/wheat free diet then you know the struggle of finding good food to eat. Restaurants are a nightmare, and even finding food for on the go can be difficult. You won’t even realize the struggle of finding snack food until you realize how many products you can’t eat. That is why I have compiled a list of gluten/wheat free food that are easy to come by and taste great.
1. Udis Bread
If you live with a gluten/wheat free diet, then maybe you think you can never have bread. Well guess again. The brand Udis creates many gluten/wheat free products, primarily different types of bread that taste amazing. The bread is perfect for toast and even sandwiches. Udis also creates bagels if that’s more your speed. (Fun fact: Widener has this brand of bread in the cafeteria).
2. Annie Chun’s Pad Thai Rice Noodles
Just accept the fact that you’ll never have many options when it comes to pasta. Just accept it and move on. Throughout my life trying to get any type of pasta that was actually good was very difficult – especially because after a while the brands I would use would get discontinued. But Annie Chun’s is actually pretty good and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere (knock on wood). It’s also easy and quick to make and quite filling.
3. Wegmans Gluten Free Double Chocolate Brownie Mix
Everyone loves brownies. Which is why there are a lot of gluten/wheat free brownie mixes, but not all of them are actually that good. Usually, after a day they no longer taste that well, but Wegmans brand does a pretty good job of lasting and tasting delicious. Double chocolate with gooey chocolate chips, these brownies are literally the best.
4. Schär Gluten Free Cocoa Wafers
I’m going to be honest, these cocoa wafers don’t always do it for me, but they’re pretty good if you’re in the need for a tasty snack. They’re also the best chocolate wafers I’ve come across – they practically melt in your mouth and the chocolate is always on point. I have no problem eating half the box in one sitting. Schär also makes other types of wafers and pretty awesome Oreo knock-offs.
5. Annie’s Homegrown Double Chocolate Chip Granola Bars
Something I’ve always had trouble with is not being able to have quick, on the go, breakfast food. It’s kind of a risk to try granola bars because there is always a chance there is either gluten or wheat in them, but thankfully I discovered Annie’s Homegrown Granola Bars. Annie’s makes other type of granola bars besides chocolate chip, those just happen to be my favorite. Now when I’m rushing in the morning I can just grab a granola bar to tide me over until I can actually get a meal. I will be honest though, like most gluten free foods, they are expensive and you only get five granola bars per box.
It’s honestly become a fun trip to go to the grocery store and check out the gluten free section to see if I can find any new foods to try. Living with a limited diet can be a huge struggle sometimes, but thankfully there are options to make things easier. Saying that, never eat gluten-free pizza.
