You've showed me unconditional love in loving me as if I was your own daughter.

For My Aunt Who's Been A Second Mom
Ashley Horrigan

Auntie,

I feel so lucky to have had you by my side since day one. You spoiled me through my younger years, and you continue to spoil me today. You let me get away with a lot more than you should have but that's because I'm your little girl, too. Just like Mom, you know when to give me a reality check, but you're also always there when I just need someone to listen to me.

You're someone who's easy to confide in. No matter how bad the situation is, I know you will be there with open arms and no judgement. There have been times when I would tell you something before mom because I didn't know how she would handle it. I'll never forget you telling me, "If you're not going to tell her, I will." And boy, did I know the conversation would be a lot more smooth if I said something first.

All the effort you have put into my life has not gone unnoticed. I am beyond thankful for all the actions you have taken to be such an influential part of my life. From the "I love you mores" to the random lunch dates you treat me to, I could never thank you enough. You've shown me unconditional love in loving me as if I was your own daughter. You've been my number one fan through everything, and I am proud to say I have the best cheerleader out there.

I look up to you. You are my role model, someone I aspire to be like. You've shown me how to have a strong backbone, and never let anyone walk all over me. You've taught me to be patient with life, and that if I'm good to life that it'll be good to me back. You've constantly told me not to be lazy, to get out there and accomplish what my heart is telling me to. And lastly, you've taught me how to love someone full heartedly.

I love you more, Auntie.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
