It may not feel like spring has reached Auburn, AL in these arctic temperatures and rain storms. That doesn't mean we can't celebrate the sunshine headed our way! Spring semester has more freedom than ever without football every weekend, so plan ahead and take advantage of your time in the sun!
1. Picnic on the lawn of Samford Hall with Toomer's lemonade.
Yes, it's incredibly cliche, but you have to do it at least once. Say "War Eagle" to the tour groups walking by and check out the brand new Toomer's Oaks while you're there.
2.Go hammocking with your friends at Chewacla State Park.
Indulge your "granola" side, and bring your textbooks so you can at least pretend to study while you're there!
3. Have brunch with the roosters at Crepe Myrtle Cafe, then grocery shop in the Farmer's Market after your meal.
Drink a Mexican Coca-Cola and stock up on fresh fruits and veggies. No freshman fifteen here!
4. Speaking of the freshman fifteen...
Take on the challenge of rock climbing at the Auburn Rec and Wellness Center. After tackling the 50-foot-tall wall, ease your sore muscles in the pool and soak up the sun.
5. Attend a baseball game.
Whether you cheer on the Tigers at Plainsman Park or venture out the Turner Field for the Atlanta Braves for a spring game, there's a reason why baseball is our national pastime!
6. Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a fiesta and plenty of queso.
If a fiesta is way out of your budget, party on at Chipotle. Yes, I know, guacamole is extra.
7. Take a break on Spring Break. For those headed to a party in Panama City Beach, your goal is just to survive the long week. For road trips or short-term missions, peace and quiet are usually preferred!
8. Go to class.
As the end of the semester draws nearer and temperatures rise, the temptation to skip your afternoon class will only get worse! Get the studying out of the way so you can enjoy the outdoors. You might even run into Cam Newton!
9. Survive finals week.
You'll be glad you studied when this chaotic time of year arrives, since you'll be mentally checked out and ready for the summer to begin by this point.
10. Graduate.
Or, wave to your older friends as they enter the real world and leave you in Auburn, a.k.a. heaven on earth. Just another reason to appreciate what few semesters you have left!
