The place to be as a film student.

Atlanta's Film Industry

The Hollywood presence is getting bigger and bigger in Atlanta as time goes on. Since August, there has been over 40 TV shows and movies filmed in Atlanta. 40?! In one month? Yeah, that's a lot...

Movies and TV shows are constantly recruiting people to be extras on their films, and finding more and more people to help out with production. With all of these different shows and movies being filmed means that there are a lot of directors and producers roaming the streets of the city. Atlanta has always been a great place to find connections for professions but if you're planning on getting into the production business, this city is even better than before.

As a film student, I desire to eventually get involved in the film industry. I eventually want to begin producing my own films and share my imaginative mind through a camera. Living in Atlanta, the film presence has definitely been a positive impact on my life.

I was working on Wednesday night, and it was a normal night at the restaurant when the bartender came back to tell me, "Hey Nick, there is a guy from L.A. who is here filming a show this next month; you should go talk to him." I got extremely intimidated the moment he said that. But, this was my time to see the connection magic that Atlanta offers. I immediately went to the bar to introduce myself. He introduced himself as Toby Corbett. For those who don't know who that is, he is a Production Designer for the film industry. Production Designers are responsible for all the visual concepts of a film. A major film he worked on was "Pitch Perfect 2."

Anyway, we talked for a good bit and he gave me his email before leaving. So, I did what any fan boy would do and I emailed him as soon as I got off work. Long story short, he invited me to come visit on the set of his current film he is working on, "The True Memoirs of an International Assassin." A dream of mine to work on a film set is coming true shortly at 18 years old.

The point of this article is to share an experience of an 18-year-old in Atlanta trying to accomplish his dreams. The connections that Atlanta provides in the entertainment business is so wide. Pursue what you desire and you will obtain it, as long as you put your heart to it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
