A-OK Café
Located on College Avenue between Walker's Pub and Marvin's Shoe Repair, this place gives a whole new meaning to lunch. With over 30 options to choose from, nothing will ever disappoint you. From their Ultimate Toasted Club Sandwich (which includes ham, turkey, bacon, sharp cheddar cheese and Swiss cheese, mayo and honey mustard, lettuce, and tomato) to their homemade sushi, A-OK Café is definitely one of Athens' gems that needs to be explored by all. If you are a student on campus looking for a quick bite or an adult on lunch break trying to find something to get you through the day, A-OK Café will provide.
Tlaloc El Mexicano
If you're in the mood for some reasonably priced authentic Mexican food, then you need to try this place ASAP. Tlaloc is located a little ways down Chase Street; at first glance it may look run-down, but once you walk inside the door, you can feel the excitement and energy from all the staff. Their Mexican food is unlike any other in the Athens area; their Central American food is the real deal. Fajitas, papusas, gorditas, quesadillas, and more are all so good they will make your mouth water, not to mention you get chips and salsa as soon as you sit down. (Disclaimer: make sure you get your glass of water before you try their salsa because it is spicy) Tlaloc El Mexicano is worth the drive in order to get some authentic Mexican food.
2 Story Coffee Shop
If you're tired of the same old same old at your current coffee house, then you should consider branching out by trying 2 Story Coffee. Their coffee is not made like most chain coffee shops; instead, 2 Story Coffee uses the pour-over method to ensure that every cup of coffee they make is to perfection. Not only is their coffee divine, but they also have a relaxing environment that allows for a great study spot. If you want to study with a little bit of buzz, then the first floor or outside seating is for you, but if you're interested in a study room or quiet space, you should try going to the second floor. Not interested in studying? Then maybe an open-mic night filled with local talent will appeal to you. Whether you're in the mood to study with a warm cup of tea or engage in an open-mic night with a fresh cup of coffee, 2 Story Coffee Shop is worth trying.
Dawg Gone Good BBQ
Who doesn't love some good southern BBQ with a side of mac n' cheese?
