Yes, this is another thank you note to another mother, but honestly this is someone in your life who deserves endless thank yous. So, I am going to add to the conversation with my own personal thank you.
My mom is the epitome of “I want to give you what I didn’t have.” She even goes above and beyond this standard, whether enabling my shoe addiction or allowing me to be a part of anything I ever wanted. There wasn’t one team, trip, or school I wanted to go to that my mom didn’t help me join and with total support. This is thanks to her amazing attitude coupled with a crazy work ethic. My mom works harder and longer than anyone I know and deserves the world for it, but instead she chooses to give the world to my brother and me.
That’s another thing about my mom: she is the least selfish person I have ever known. There are a lot of little things she does I sometimes don’t notice, so now I am taking the time to say thank you. Thank you for dealing with my attitude when I get irrationally upset (over the smallest things and way too often). Thank you for carpooling me around all my life to countless schools, practices and friends’ houses. Thank you for always welcoming me home so lovingly with all my favorite things when I visit from school. Thank you for taking care of me when I’m sick. Thank you for your sense of humor and your contagious laugh. Thank you for going to Target with me for a few things and leaving with 50.
And then there are the big things that my mom does. Thank you for providing for me my entire life. Thank you for surrounding me with so much love. Thank you for the inspiration and unconditional love.
People say you grow up to be just like your parents, but only if I’m lucky will I be as remarkable as you. You don’t choose your family, but if I could, I would still choose you.
