There have been many people throughout time that followed astrology. Although the belief is not as strong as it was years ago, the astrological culture is still around. Astrology is the observance of the alignment of stars, planets and moons at a given time of the year. Many years ago, it was believed that the position of celestial bodies had direct effects on humans.
But is this study reliable?
The astrological signs and definitions that were determined then cannot be scientifically proven to be true anymore. Astrology has impacted many peoples’ lives because of the enjoyment they get out of it. Although astrology can be entertaining, it is an unreliable pseudoscience.
Astrology is a pseudoscience because it cannot be scientifically proven to be real. Many people use astrology to find out more about their own and others’ birth months. The reliability of this study of celestial relationships is not stable. As times have changed, space itself has changed too.
What astrologers agree on is that astrology is defined as precisely not the result of any means we know of. That is, it is defined negatively.
When there is a claim that something is true, it is often scientifically false because claims are based on opinions. Opinions such as believing that astrology has direct impacts on humans, can be debatable. However, actual scientific facts cannot be debated. For example, while both astrology and astronomy are based on space, astronomy can be proven through scientific research.
There is a tendency in modern society to confuse astrology and astronomy, or worse yet, to consider one a legitimate alternative to the other. Although both arose from the wonders of the night sky, from stars to comets, planets, the sun and the moon, astronomy had a practical motivation.
Nothing has been able to prove any intangible or unobservant changes of humans, like the changes that astrology is built on.
Astrology is most commonly used as a hobby. This observation was the method used to determine the sun signs of humans’ birth months. The earth has since wobbled like a top, so our observations of the constellations’ positions have changed, meaning the signs and their definitions have changed. The sun may have passed in front of the Capricorn constellation during the Babylonian period. With the latest shift of view, the sun may now move in from of the next constellation, Sagittarius or Libra.
I still believe that astrology is a fun thing to follow, but it shouldn't be depended on too much.
