The male opinion on abortion is often not heard, but here it is.

In today's society, a big topic of conflict is abortion. We see women on television, social media, and in our daily lives expressing their opinions on the subject. However, something we don't see a lot of is the opinion of males. I reached out on my social media pages to hear about abortion from males of all ages.

Here are some of the opinions I received:

Male, 15

“My opinion on abortion: I believe abortion is a selfish act people do because they prefer to take no responsibility for their actions. They say suicide is selfish, but I think abortion is just as selfish as suicide. You shouldn’t take the mistake YOU made out on the innocent child you created. If you don’t want a kid, then don’t f***ing have sex. It’s that simple.

There are so many people out there who can’t have kids and would do anything to get pregnant just once, but these a**holes out here take advantage of that and kill the child before it’s even born. I mean, if you really don’t want the kid, put it up for adoption and let another family enjoy the life you created. There’s absolutely no need to kill a child.

There’s also the people, like you, who were pregnant and never got the chance to see your child, not because you didn’t want to, but because that’s just what happened. People like you, my mom, and my sister who miscarried would give anything to go back and hold their child, even if the pregnancy wasn’t planned and it wasn’t the right time. It’s still a child and that is the greatest gift anyone could ever have. People who abort babies take away that gift and it’s cruel. I don’t see how anyone could take the life of a child, just so it doesn’t affect theirs.”

Male, 17

“Abortion is killing another human so I’m against it, but if the girl was raped and wants to have an abortion, it’s understandable. It all depends on the circumstances and what has happened.”

Male, 18

“Abortions are wrong. I think all babies are a gift from God. Even if they have a problem, the baby shouldn’t be killed because he/she doesn’t deserve that. Imagine if you had something wrong with you and someone made the decision to kill you or didn’t want you here. All lives are precious.”

Male, 20

“I highly disagree with abortion. I think if you're man or woman enough to make a baby, you better be man or woman enough to raise him/her. But I completely understand getting an abortion if you’ve been ‘raped,’ but that’s the only situation I would ever condone abortion.”

Male, 59

"My position is very different from most people. I believe that abortion is a bad thing. As a society, we should do all we reasonably can to keep the number to a minimum. That is a difficult project. I believe those on the ANTI side have some problems with their arguments. They say there are millions of abortions a year and they don’t like it. Well, the easiest way to avoid an abortion is to avoid pregnancy.

They would like to waggle their finger and say to the 14-year-old girl living in the inner city not to have sex, but they have no clue of the environment in which she lives. I say, that by the time abortion is the question, we have failed the young lady. There should have been much more education at that very young age. There should also have been FREE birth control. I know many people on the ANTI side. I know of none of them that have adopted an unwanted child. I know of only one couple that has even attempted to foster children from rough positions.

The ANTIs want others to carry the burden but all they want to offer is condemnation. I do believe that there is a point in the development of the fetus that termination is wrong. This is hard to hear, but there are providers that will terminate a pregnancy at 8.5 months. The ANTIs may call this murder. I tend to agree.

Our society should establish a point where we find it unbearable to terminate. I don’t know where that is but the term 'viability' can help us with that. A mere clump of cells that has been in existence for 7 days is not a human. At 8.5. months it is. It would be helpful if we could draw the line. The ANTIs say that all life is precious. Even the 7-day clump of cells. There are people in that camp that believe there can be exceptions to the prohibition of abortion if there was rape or incest. The fetus that is a result of rape is just as precious at the time of conception as I was.

You can’t have it both ways. Those who say there should be exceptions are weak minded and hypocrites. There are laws in place that state you must be licensed to perform medical procedures. Virtually anything done related to a fetus must be done by a licensed provider. This makes the condition a medical condition. If the ANTIs can decide that a person can’t have the medical procedure of abortion, why can’t some large group of people forbid some other procedure?

If God wanted someone to be bald, then hair restoration should be banned. Once you allow the government to decide what you do with your body, how do you stop it? Abortion has been with humanity for a thousand years. Forcing them back into the 'dark alleys' will not stop them. If an abortion is performed in an unsafe manner, both the fetus and the woman may be lost.

The ANTIs have placed a higher value on the life of the fetus than the life of the woman. They wish to condemn the woman. They have no knowledge of how she got it that position. By the time the 14-year old has this problem, it is too late for education and birth control. Termination in a safe facility should be an option. Abortion is a bad thing. We should do what we can to reduce the number. We should educate early and often. We should take better care of those 'unwanted' children. We should establish a point in time where termination is wrong."

Overall, I found it very interesting to hear so many opinions from men of all ages. Their insight helped me to gain a better understanding of the way abortion is thought of in the male mind.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
