Recently, I was presented with 11 "boyfriend rules," rules that 9-year-old girls came up with on their own. We live in a society where the rules written by a 9-year-old relate to the relationships I find myself in at 18.
It's comical at times to think about what dating holds for me in the future but also the younger generations. Girls of all ages are constantly changing to become what they think a boy wants.
It's funny to think how things stay the same and rarely change. I was just recently talking with my friends how "f*ck boys are getting better and better these days." So the real question I have for everyone is, are boys born this way or is our society influencing them into the f*ck boys presented to girls of all ages?
Thanks, Isla, for the help with this article.
1. "See what you have in common"
2. "Laugh at his jokes"
3. "Laugh with him"
4. "Learn about him"
5. "Don't yell at him"
6. "Tell about yourself without being boring"
7. "Smell good"
8. "Look pretty"
9. "Ask him for his opinion"
10. "Try to get alone together with him"
11. "Don't ask if he likes you or act like you like him or he likes you"
This is what young girls think guys their age want. To me, it sounds cynical to say, but they can't be accomplished because the only relevant one is rule #11 in which neither person in a relationship should say how they feel.
How does a 9-year-old know this? Our society better get it together before all the good guys left turn to the dark side, f*ck boys!
