As It Is- Okay

What an amazing way to start off 2017 than with a brand new album release. January 20th, 2017, As It Is, a Transatlantic Pop-Punk band, release their sophomore album okay.

Back in September of 2016, the members of As It Is all started to post the same image, stating to "Please Stand By" presented by Happy Co., and this drove the fan base nuts. The fan base across social media speculated and came up with weird conspiracies about what was happening. All members were on a social media blackout till later on in the month when the title track, okay, of their sophomore album was released. This was a new side of As It Is that the fan based hasn't seen in previous music. Accepting it with open arms, the fan based was ecstatic for the new album. Okay, was setting a tone for how the rest of the album would sound. Even though the rest of the album has some "heavier and darker tone" songs like Soap and No Way Out, they all have one common theme, "it's okay to not be okay". Okay, has not only sparked a fire within the fan base's hearts but also has sparked a conversation about mental health.

After the release of two more singles off the album, As It Is had a special surprise for their fans. In the week leading up to the album drop, they released a new song every day on many different platforms. Many would stay up all night to hear the new songs.

We allhave that special band that we relate too and the ones we listen too so we don't feel so alone, but As It Is hit this one right on the nail. Many have been talking about it on social media in the two days since the release, many including this writer that opened up . Others spoke about how the band either helped them pull themselves out of the darkness. Or how it made them realize that it was okay that they felt they way felt.

In several interviews, the band has talked about how they poured their hearts and souls into this album, to the point where even Patty had to admit that even he wasn't okay. Seeing them turn hard times into these emotional ballads that touch the hearts of many proves that these guys haven't even started yet, we will be seeing them for a very long time, and in this writer's opinion, legends in the making.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
