Have you ever had something taken away from you? Something that you cherished and loved for years? It's a tough pill to swallow whatever it is, and it also takes a toll on the people that care for it. Recently, some schools are thinking about art and art classes out of their curriculum. This is absolutely absurd. Art allows you to express yourself in ways unimaginable. Being told that something is a work of art is a compliment because it means it is very creative and appealing. Some people don't realize how important art truly is, so reading this article might change your opinion on it
What is art?
Art is the expression or application of human CREATIVE skill and IMAGINATION, typically in forms of painting, sculpture, and sketching. This produces works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional POWER. What does this mean? There were 3 words in all caps: creative, imagination, and power. What would happen if creativity didn't exist? Everything would be dull, boring. Being creative means being original. We use our imaginations to open up many new ideas and many new inventions. We as human beings have the power to do this and create things beyond belief.
Art was originally just drawing on a piece of paper or painting on a canvas. It is so much more than that. It has an expanded so much it is incredible. There is acting, singing, dancing, band, orchestra, etc... Some people who have never done anything like this have never really felt the excitement of what the arts can do. Art allows people to make new friends, express their feeling through art and allows them to relieve the stress that they are holding inside of them. Just ask anyone who is active in the arts program. When asked what would happen if art programs were taken away, former high school student Katherine Lanning said, "People find the things that they love from art. Arts are important in everyday life. It should not be taken away."
So all I'm asking for you to do is just think about how life would be without art. What would you do to try and express what you are thinking? Art has been around since the cavemen were still alive. Art was used to create all the paintings of that were drawn in the Sistine Chapel. And art will forever be the cornerstone of creativity. Some people have their opinions, and I have mine. So I believe that art is important in everyday life. Remember that learning is more than just common and core and that earth without art is just "eh".
