Are You His Girl? Or His "Girl"?
One Tree Hill

First off, no female should lower herself to get attention from a boy only in certain hours of the day, or under certain conditions, after someone has had a little too much liquid courage at a Friday night get together.

Girls, we are not objects.

With that said, so many girls these days are classified as “the girl”.

“The girl”. (Noun): The one who gets the late night “wyd?” text from a boy who doesn’t view her as anything but something for him to mess around with on his terms.

Let’s face it, he can’t see how badly she really wants to be the girl to get the 3 p.m. “How is your day love?” text.

If this triggers something about your life or if you’re wondering what other hints boys leave for his ‘girl’ let me try and make it a little bit easier for you.

1. When you two are together it’s nothing less than amazing, but when you are apart, it’s difficult to get his attention.

Heck yeah, it feels like he’s committed when you’re together and he has nobody around to see the way he feels about you, but when someone likes you they should want to make you know you’re wanted at all hours of the day.

2. You’re always the one to text or call him first, especially when making plans.

When two people like each other, it’s normally a mutual effort. Most people make it noticeable that they want to see you. You should not feel like you’re the only one interested.

3. He is really picky about discussing other people that he may or may not be hanging out with.

Talking about getting serious and other people in their life is ALWAYS a touchy subject to him. It doesn’t mean he's seeing anybody else, but he definitely doesn't want to get locked in with you. He might just want someone he views as “cute” to come along next. And then what?

4. He doesn't fully commit to plans whenever you invite him to things.

“Possibly!”

“Maybe!”

“Idk what’s going on yet, I’ll let you know!”

“Let me see if I’m busy, but it sounds fun!”

But what he is probably doing is waiting for someone else to ask him to come through.

5. And if he does invite you somewhere, it’s usually always last minute.

In all reality, the hard truth is he just wants your company because he knows you can’t say no to him.

6. He is always sending mixed signals.

He will say you’re great but he doesn’t want anything serious or that he just has too much going on in his life right now. Whereas both of these things are probably true, you constantly don’t know what he wants and it can get confusing really fast if you’re already invested in him.

7. When you compliment him or say something nice he rarely returns the compliment.

This is one of those scenarios’s where ya'll hang out and you text him, “I had a great time tonight, you’re so sweet and I love hanging out with you!” and he responds with “Yeah. I had fun too,” it's really OK. My pride totally didn’t just take a hit to the gonads.

8. His enthusiasm about hanging out with you gets smaller and smaller every time.

What usually happens is that he turns to you when someone he wanted to hang out with bails on him, and he doesn't want to be alone.

Why not just hang a sign around our neck that says, “NEXT BEST OPTION”

9. When it comes to supporting you or helping you out with something, he's short worded, and flakes.

While he isn’t caring about you, or what’s important to you, he is well aware that you would drop anything to support him and help him, and he takes advantage of that.

(This is when the girl writes the paragraphs and all he says is “OK” or “I’m sorry”.)

10. And finally, you’re stressed out all the freaking time about him.

You’re (lowkey obviously) waiting for him to reply, just so you can stop replying altogether and have the last word, or say something to friend zone him and in the end, you get a crap ton of anxiety.

Ask him straight up from the beginning what he wants out of this, DTR that boy. I promise you’ll feel so much better and maybe even bypass the nine reasons above and all the emotions that come with them.

You deserve more than a boy who just wants you when it's convenient for him.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
