Most people will stay working for a company for years and become comfortable with the fact that they are secured and have an income. However, have you ever asked someone if they are truly happy with their job? Majority of them will probably not have the answer you expect.
I had a job that I became very comfortable with. I loved my manager at the time, my coworkers were all great, and the company had a great reputation. So, what's not to love?! When I first started my job, I loved it, I thought it was one of the greatest jobs a college student could score. I didn't realize that I was more happy with the idea of it, and not the actual job itself.
I am usually a firm believer that one should not quit their job until they have another one for them once they leave, but what happens when you no longer are happy where you are? Going into work at a job and place that you are not happy with can really start to bring you down.
I was starting to dread going into work, but I didn't have any other job to fall back onto. I decided to take a risk and not listen to the advice that I was so confident with. I quit my job and decided to start fresh. It was one of the greatest decisions I could have ever made.
Most people who are comfortable with their jobs, no matter how unhappy they are, will not choose to leave. They fear not being hired anywhere else, which is how I felt at first. Quitting though, will bring more opportunities than ever imagined. It is okay to quit your job before finding another job. Quitting allows you to be able to truly find what makes you happy and will open doors to better opportunities.
It gave me a perspective that not many people openly look at it from. People look at quitting as a failure, I look at it as a new beginning. Take it into consideration the next time you walk into work.
