The weather is FINALLY starting to get that crisp feeling and pumpkin spice everything covers the grocery store shelves. Young children are picking out their costumes for Halloween and parents are already stocking up on pounds of candy. Although this time of the year usually carries an air of mystery and spookiness, many people's greatest fear is actually coming alive, not staying stuck in a horror film.
Over the past couple of weeks, there have been numerous reports of threatening clowns terrorizing cities across the country. These clowns have been reported trying to lure kids into the woods, tempting them with money, and also chasing them with knives. They have been known to stand around dumpsters at 2:30 in the morning and wear flashing lights and the famous red noses. It seems as if these clowns are a gang of their own and they are gaining members left and right. The clowns are spreading like wild-fire across the country. Over 30 States have reported at least one or more clown sightings.
Although police across the States have made arrests, most have only been due to "suspicious behavior." Across the country, police are having a hard time finding any evidence. There hasn't been a blue chunk of hair or red nose in sight to help with investigation. Police are also having trouble trying to figure out what is real and what is fake. Social media has taken some true facts and twisted them around. People are finding random pictures of clowns and posting them saying "OMG there's a clown right outside my house."
The other arrests that police are making includes things such as "Making Terrorist Threats and Inducing Panic." There are many "terrorizing clowns" that aren't out to kidnap your children, or try to kill you, but they want you to think that. Most clowns that have been spotted the last week or so, have been known to only stand there creepily and scare the living crap out of you, but other than maybe dying of a heart attack, they mean no harm.
So YES the clowns are creepy and YES you do need to be aware of your surroundings, however, (at least for now) there's no use in being scared that one of the clown gangs are going to kill you. Police are on high alert across the country. Kids should be taught stranger danger, and even adults should be skeptical about being alone in a big city, but use your common sense (I know for some people this may be really hard) and you can still enjoy your Autumn activities.
Happy Fall everybody!
