As Mother's Day comes and goes, it's a time where you truly realize how lucky you are to have an amazing mom. It's easy to take for granted all the wonderful things that your mom does for you. I compiled a few reasons why you should appreciate your mom even more than you already do.

1. She always has your back.

For all the times she has held your hand through the battles in life and the times that she supported you in every dream you had, your mom was always there and always will be.

2. She is always your #1 supporter.

Your mom has most likely been to every recital, sports game, art show, etc. She never fails to be there cheering you on with a proud smile on her face.

3. Sometimes she knows you better than you know yourself.

Your mom can tell something is wrong just by looking at you. Whether you got into a fight with your best friend or maybe you are just feeling off, she knows. She automatically makes your favorite food and comforts you; how much luckier could you be?

4. She gives you the reality check that you need.

Sometimes you can get a little bit too sassy or full of yourself and your mom easily fixes that. Moms always have a way of bringing you back down to Earth.

5. You always have the best laughs and memories.

Your mom is the person you've been bonded to since you came into this world. Nothing will ever compare to that. The endless laughs and memories you made with her will always be something you treasure your whole life.

So, send your mom a text, call her, or even go see her and give her the biggest hug. You are fortunate enough to have a person who loves you unconditionally and only wants the world and more for you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
