I’ve been feeling very appreciative for the little things in life recently.
“The little things” is absolutely one of the most overused cliches...I know…but whatever. It works.
As students, we’re at turning points in our lives where macro choices are what matter. As humans, we are at a point in history where generalizations and big ideas are at the forefront of our thoughts. This is all important stuff, can’t discredit the importance of all this. But I’ve found it easier to love life by making an effort to look for and appreciate the small stuff.
These are things that have made me love life the past few weeks.
- The feeling of satisfaction after giving yourself a GREAT manicure.
- Tissues infused with lotion so your little nose doesn’t get red.
- Ice scrapers. Self explanatory.
- When Youtube autoplay is fire and the ads are all less than 5 seconds.
- Nailing a recipe from one of those buzzfeed videos (Snickerdoodle Blondies are highly recommended).
- Plopping into a nicely made bed with clean sheets with the glow of a deliciously scented candle at your bedside.
- Digital receipts (save the planet, people).
- Clearance items. Also self explanatory.
- $10 blanket scarves from Charlotte Russe.
- The aesthetic of a cute little coffee shop.
Life is grand and wonderful and fulfilling and the little things are a big part of what makes it so grandiose.
