Any Writers in the House Tonight?!
Let me narrow that down just a bit. Any novelists in the house tonight? Well then hello to my fellow cursed human beings! I know, not many people see it as a curse but let me just explain why it is.First things first, it only becomes a curse when you have these three things invading one brain. Number one, having creativity ooze into every orifice of your body, two, having the three letter disorder rule your life (ADD), and last but not least, the love of stories and the places they lead you. If you have these three things then you just so happen to be screwed. (Pardon my French)
Now let me explain why. It all starts off with one amazing, beautiful, breath taking, whirlwind story that you and everyone you know falls in love with. You get so connected to the story that the characters that you created are actually living in your head and breathing the very air that you breath. Then it happens, and everything changes. Out of the blue you wake up one morning with another really good idea, but its okay, you have already written 20 chapters of your other book. You can totally take a little time off to write down some new ideas for the next book. You were never so wrong. Seven hours later you have the cute meet, the tragedy, and the beginning of happily ever after. Now you are hooked and you cant stop now, you must fill in the space between these three colossal moments!
As if things can’t get any worse, you realize that your first book will need a sequel! Now your brain immediately races to this new project with frightful vigor. You have now fallen into the endless loop of creative quicksand. You can never get out, you’ll just sink deeper in new places. Then you look up one days and find that you have ten different books started, 60 different characters running a muck in your head, and feel too overwhelmed to know where to start. Yep, its definitely a curse.
My wanna be solution it to hire a stenographer to help, but like most college students my age, I’m too broke for that. So I guess I’ll just be here waiting for a solution while my creations just continue to grow. What I want to know is this, am I the only writer struggling with this? Is there anyone else struggling to keep up with the stories lining up at the door? If there is anyone else out there that has had or is having these problems feel free to comment, I would love to hear from you.
Ps. If this does apply to you and you are brave enough to respond, put the number of books you are currently up to, how many of them are novels , how far along you are on them, and how long they have been adding up for!
Like always,
Lots of love
SAW
