It's the standard interrogation that every college student gets when they come home. It's natural. In high school, your parents knew where you were and whenever you sneezed, but in college, it's different. It doesn't matter whether you go to school close to home or go to school hours away. You'll always get the same questions but the answers you give may be different then from the ones you mean.
1. How are you?
We may say "I'm fine" or may even go the extra mile and say "I'm great!" but in reality we are dead inside. The cause is a toss up between exams and essays.
2. How's school?
We may not be crying on the outside, but you can bet we are crying on the inside.
3. How's your love life?
I plead the fifth.
4. Where are you going to be in four years?
I don't know what I'm having for breakfast tomorrow. How am I supposed to know where I'm going to be in four years?
5. Do you have a job yet?
Up to my ears in papers, exams and classes, I can barely breathe, let alone look for a job.
6. Are you getting enough sleep?
We may tell you that we are getting the proper eight hours, but what we don't tell you is that is over the span of the week.
7. How was that exam?
Don't ask us about the exams, it may just break us.
8. Where's your school again?
It's not that hard to remember. You should know this.
9. How's the food?
It depends on the day. Sometimes you feel fine, then it hits you like a train or you immediately feel terrible.
10. Want to go shopping?
Unless you mean picking up some ramen, then no. I can't even afford a piece of gum.
11. How do you feel about summer coming up?
I literally cannot wait.
