An Open Letter To My Sister

Dear Tiffany,

Despite all the times we annoy each other and fight over the stupidest things, just know how much I love you. Over the years I've watched you grow, as you went through the many obstacles life throws at us. From high school to college I've seen you go through the worst and the best of times.

You've always had a way about dealing with situations that I've admired. It seemed no matter how hard the struggle you were faced with you managed to get through it. You always had smile on your face finding the happy things in life even when things weren't going well. I told myself I wanted to be like you when I got older. You were my biggest role model, I can't even begin to tell you, and you still are today.

When we were younger the hardest struggle seemed to be what toy we wanted mom and dad to buy us or deciding what we wanted to eat for dinner. As we got older the struggles we faced were no longer so simple. Through the tears and the stress and all the decisions there was nobody else i'd rather go through it all with than you. You have sat up on the phone with me for hours giving me advice and talking me through it . You have also experienced the struggles I have and knew exactly what to do and say to make me feel better.

While you couldn't take away my problems you knew how to take me through it and be there for me every step of the way. Whether it was a call to checkup on me and talk or a simple text saying "I love you". While you were busy with your own obligations you always put me first. While I am caught up everyday with school and work I don't always have the time to tell you how much i appreciate you. I wanted to take the time to write this to tell you along with everybody else what a truly amazing person you are. I am beyond proud to call you my sister.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
