To my best friends,
Here I am sitting at home in my bedroom, alone, for the first time since August and I can't help but think about every single one of my friends from school: where you all are, what you are doing. And for the first time since I made a whole new group of friends, I am realizing how important all of you are to me. I am realizing how much I value our jokes, our laughs, and our late night talks. So as I sit in my room, the best thing I can do is say thank you because without you, my first year of college would not have been as great.
In my transition from high school to college, my biggest worry was that I would not make new friends. I was worried that I would spend all of my days sitting in my room by myself while everyone else was out having a great time. But to my surprise, that worry I was having became a false worry because the people I met are the people that I am eternally grateful to be able to call my friends. The funny thing about it, however, was how fast it happened. After a couple conversations with these people whom I have never known, they were my friends. It felt like when we were in elementary school and the first time you met someone, they were your best friend. That's what I experienced, I found my best friends.
From August to May I was blessed to spend my time with this group of people. In that short time, many memories were made. Laughs, tears, jokes, and late night talks are all the things I took away from my freshman year of college and my friends are who I have to thank for all of those things. I thank you all for making me laugh, even when I wanted to cry. And for making me cry while I was laughing! Thank you for keeping me up late even when I had an early class because if it weren't for you, I would have missed out on many amazing nights.
Our time together went by extremely fast and while I am sad that it is over, I am thankful for the time we did have together. Without all of you, I do not know if I would have made it through my first year of college. I needed all of you in some way or another throughout the course of the school year and I look forward to coming back in August so we can continue making many more memories together. I love you all and cannot wait to see where our next three years together will take us.
Yours,
A friend.
