My Annoying Habits

Everyone has bad habits. They tend to make things difficult for us and no matter how hard we try, we cannot get rid of those pesky old habits. There are a lot of common habits people have like: nail biting, stuffing your face with junk food, etc. While, I may have those common habits, there are few that just make other people around me, especially my family irritated. I have tried to get rid of them in 21 days after I searched online but come on now, that doesn’t really work. My thinking is that they will go away as I keep maturing and growing old. Every person is different and have their ways of getting rid of bad habits.

Here is my list of a few annoying habits:

1)Bottling everything up inside – I may not be the best person to communicate well when I am angry or when something annoys me. I will tell the person that I am fine and nothing is wrong with me until a minor thing sets me off. I have been battling with this for the majority of my life but I cannot escape it.

2)Waiting till last minute – The only things, I tend to push till last minute are my school work. Other than that, I like getting things done quickly and before a deadline. I do not know what it is with school work that makes me want to keep pushing it until it is the night before it is due or the day of at 11:59PM.

3)Overspending – I will buy for everyone and their mother. I will go to the mall to buy myself something but I will see something that would be perfect for my little brother or mom and buy it right away. I will walk out of the mall with stuff, I did not really need. Then, I complain about not having money. This habit always bites me in the butt.

4)Skipping Breakfast – We have been told 3647897398 times that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I always forget to eat it every day when I leave for college. I think this is most common in college students. So, I know there are my fellow students who understand when in the middle of the class, our stomach starts growling. Talk about embarrassment.

5)Too much coffee – The amount of coffee that goes in my body is unreal. It is obviously not healthy and I tend to substitute it for food. It fills me up and keeps me going for a couple of hours, until I need another cup again. This is incredibly bad during school time. Everybody has this idea that coffee wakes you up, but for me it has become second nature. I will get headaches if I don’t drink coffee at least one a day. Coffee addict, here!

Maybe people share the same habits as me and will struggle to overcome them one day. But, my question is where do we pick up these habits from? Parents? Friends? Born with them? (I highly doubt that!) Do we really lose them as we mature and grow up, like I think? The only thing we can do is to try to break out of them every day, step by step. I don’t know how but one day an idea will come to our mind and help us defeat those pesky little habits.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
