I have been obsessed with animated shorts lately. I was running out of good content on my YouTube dashboard to watch, and then one of my recommended was an animated short. It was down the rabbit hole after that.
I've narrowed them down to the top eight I would recommend, from least to most likely to pull at your heartstrings . These are judged not only by content, but also by whether they made me need a tissue and to tell my sister I love her.
8. Kara Bulut (Partly Cloudy)

Partly cloudy is about clouds that make babies to give to the storks to deliver. The focus is on a cloud that makes dangerous instead of cute babies, and how his stork reacts.
7. Missing Halloween

Missing Halloween is about a young boy and his friend who go out trick-or-treating, and have a very hard time of it, but their friendship withstands the troubles. This one has a great twist in it.

The Present is about a young boy who is given a puppy by his mother, only to discover the dog is a tripod and missing one of his front legs.
5. Farewell

Farewell is about a painter who has a miscarriage, then has her painting of a bird come to life. She watches bird grow up and helps it by painting on her studio wall.

The Spider and The Butterfly is about a spider that watches the butterflies and wants to learn to fly. She then meets a dark butterfly that becomes her friend.
I went through a whole box of tissues watching these animated shorts, and I hope you did too. But not all the animated shorts I've watched and loved have made me cry. Don't Feed The Freaks is a good example of this, an apocalyptic short that made me really think about how similar we are now to the dystopian future it portrays.
Watching animated shorts reminded me how much I adored things like Pixar as a kid. I need to watch more animated films now. I still haven't seen Disney's The Princess and the Frog, so now may be the perfect time.
