Animal captivity and poaching are cruel, plain and simple. When people begin to mess with an animal’s habitat nothing ends well, for the animal or the humans. Recently in the news, there have been two incidents where animals in captivity are killed because they were either harming a child or they looked like they were going to. Now, I pay my respects to the parents who lost their young boy, and I can understand how scary it was for both sets of parents to experience that, but we could have prevented both occasions.
Why are we holding animals captive? There is no need for alligators to be in Walt DisneyWorld; don’t we have enough technology to make robotic ones? Also, there is no need for zoos;.Humans are taking living things out of their natural habitats to look at. I guess this is more convenient than going to a safari, but guess what? It is not very convenient for the living being you just put in a cage. You know why animals are attacking things that fall into its enclosure? Because they are wildlife and they do that in the wild.
When animals are born in captivity they will not be able to get accustomed to their natural habitat if released. According to PETA, captive breeding has even been proven not to work. If animals are not kept safe from poachers then breeding that goes on in these zoos has no benefits to the wildlife species. Animals are put into these enclosures with the idea in mind that they will be saved. Their species will not be helped when you keep innocent animals in tanks and cages. Just like all problems you need to start with the root cause. There are many in this case including poaching, animal trade, and habitat destruction.
Poachers are hunters who usually hunt wildlife for one reason. For example, elephants are hunted for their tusks, and tigers are usually hunted for their fur. There is no benefit from poaching, and it is not like the type of hunting where you use the entire animal. These poachers use the animal for one purpose and then leave the rest behind. Many animals have been found dead without tusks or skinned completely, and these gruesome images are very hard to see.
So, while these attacks on humans are sad and we should definitely be more careful, animals do not deserve to be held captive. In no way is this humane or even logical. This causes animal distress and can even cause anxiety. When you push a living being to its breaking point, of course, they will lash out. When an animal is stuck inside an enclosure they will go stir crazy. Animal captivity and poaching needs to be stopped, and anyone can help put an end to it.
