As a heavy android user I have a few concerns about why most apps I've used seem to "favor" Apple products. At first I was thinking that maybe the issue was with my phone being a little outdated and that it was simply time for a new one. This happens! Phones just aren't meant to last a lifetime, hence the two-year contracts.
I soon upgraded from Samsung's Galaxy S3 to a Galaxy Note 4. After being heavily pressured into creating a Snapchat by my friends I discovered the cool special effect lenses on the app, but could not for the longest of time figure out how to access them. Well guess what? I could not access them because at the time they were only available to apple users.
Now, I'm not knocking Apple because I'm actually considering switching to the next iPhone that comes out on my next upgrade. It is weird and bothers me how Apple seems to always get the plate of food first at this dinner table of technology. Developers always appear to build their apps around iOS first before considering android users. I don't know much about Apple or how the iTunes app store works in depth, but being that Apple makes you pay for just about everything maybe that is where the developers get a good lump of their money from.
Another issue I've encountered was the extreme battery drainage of Snapchat. Upon opening the app my phone would immediately die regardless of what percentage it was on. Maybe this is an issue Snapchat should address but without Snapchat my phone would overheat while sitting in my pocket. Talk about hand held thigh warmers! Now me, always assuming that whatever phone I have is what is causing issue, I reset my phone and brought a new battery. This helped when I didn't install many of the apps I deemed as battery drainers, but these phones are designed to be able to withstand lots of apps and perform an endless variety of tricks and features. Isn't that what makes it smart? What's it with my phone that isn't causing the same issue on my roommate's iPhone 6? Not That I want her to experience these issues. I wish they would combine both phones' capabilities and create a new line of technology. Guess you can't have the best of both worlds. Another issue with android phones are the weird emojis and the the limited selection of cases. You can barely tell what those emojis mean and there is literally an iPhone case in just about every store you walk in.
