Coming into college, I always had the dream of going through recruitment. I never had sisters and having the dream of joining a sorority that would give me 20-plus sisters sounded great. I knew it was going to be great, but I didn't know that it would be this good.
Going through recruitment give me the view of the different homes I could potentially belong to. With all of that said, the home for me was Alpha Sigma Tau. Going through my new member process helped me build with my pledge class, as well as my new “sistaus.” I couldn’t have been happier with my decision. From chapter, to movie nights, to TAUco Tuesday, I know that I am finally home.
Alpha Sigma Tau gave me something more than any other club could have. I have my best friends, roommates and sisters always by my side. I know that whenever I need a dress, there about 25 girls ready to hand me an armful. I know when I’m having a bad day there is more than one person offering me a bucket of ice cream and a night filled with "Dirty Dancing." When I’m happy I know who I am going to tell the good news to. Not only did AST give me my beautiful sisters, but it opened doors into other sororities, fraternities and other clubs. I always have a class with a sister, or when I need somewhere to live for my next semester, I always have somebody who needs a new roommate.
Being in a sorority isn't all rainbows and butterflies. We get down in dirty. We clean up the highway, help build houses for Habitat for Humanity and stay up all night at Relay for Life. Even during Greek Week, we get dragged through the mud during tug of war. Although it might be rough sometimes, in the end, hard work always pays off.
Alpha Sigma Tau has most importantly given me values to live by. I live to better the sorority as the sorority betters me. I have unbelievable opportunities to give back to my community in numerous ways. It is more than just glittery letter shirts and bows, it's about making the world a better place one step at a time. People say that I pay for my friends, but when I look around I couldn’t put a price tag on the happiness that I have had. Alpha Sigma Tau is the best decision that I have ever made.
