An Uplifting Letter To Myself

Sometimes, you just need to lift your spirits.

The following is a motivational letter I wrote to myself some years ago. I wrote this for myself when I was in a really good place, and I opened this letter when I was in a really bad place. Sometimes, you just need to lift your spirits. I encourage people to write themselves motivational letters to themselves and keep them in a safe place because they can come in handy one day. Perhaps you'll never need the letter, but it doesn't hurt to have it just in case. I hope you are inspired!

Dear Trey:

What a year! You are probably opening this up because you are feeling a little blue, it's the end of the year, and your grades aren't where you want them to be. All I have to say is... Tough nuts. You did this to yourself, bud. I'm not happy with it, and neither are you. So we're both not happy! I hope you're happy we're both not happy... It's a bit confusing, I know. But it makes sense. Trust me. Right now, you just need to do one thing and one thing only. ENJOY. Enjoy life. Enjoy college. Enjoy the presence of your friends and family. Just enjoy.

I need you to do something for me. Love yourself and have faith in your future. You're going places. You're smart enough that if you think you aren't on the right track, you will utilize the endless resources around you. Teachers, mentors, friends, SigEp brothers, family. Because there are a lot of people indoor life that want to see you succeed as much as you want to see you succeed. Yea, life can get rough at times, and it's only because you put yourself in that situation, but life goes on. Don't get hung up on it. Forget about it and move on.

That deals with the whole grades aspect of this letter. Now I want to talk to you about another that you like to think about and blog about all the time. That's right. Love. As much as I dislike referring to the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 is a nice verse to look to. "Love is patient, love is kind..." Look to the verse "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away."

Let it serve as a reminder that you are rejuvenated with confidence and passion thanks to a little lady by the name Jordan. Things may or may not work out with her in the future. I guess we will know soon. Either way, she has brought your spirits up and that is the best thing to happen to you in a long time.

So cheer up. Love yourself. Have confidence in everything you do. Because all of your friends do, so why not you? I know you can do it.

Last thing, write yourself another letter. Something original. Don't just copy this and call it good, okay?

Have a nice life.

Love,

Trey

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
