Soulmate is often a word that is used lightly. It is typically used to describe a romantic relationship. People often forget that you can find a soulmate in a friend, and that is exactly what I have done.

I remember when I first met you. You were straight, republican, southern Baptist, and engaged. Then one day, you weren’t. I remember that specific moment when you confided in me, and life has been a nonstop array of ups and downs since. I have watched you cry, scream, laugh, and smile. And ever so slowly, I have fallen in love with our friendship. In you I have found my soulmate.

You are the one who has held me and wiped away my tears during times of heartbreak and struggle. The one who I confide my deepest and darkest secrets with. I can bring all of my boy troubles to you and you know what to say. When you don’t, you know how to distract me from my pain and brighten my day. We are always each others wing man and have no problem telling each other how it is. You are the one person that comes to mind instantly when I am hurting. You are the perfect balance of catty, brutally honest, and flawlessly beautiful. I love you endlessly for being so unique, and fearless of being who you are. You have given me a confidence in myself that I never imagined possible. When I feel my worst you lift me up, and remind me how wonderful I truly am. You have shown me that loving yourself is most important.

We know each other’s orders at many restaurants, and have shared plenty of breakfast, lunch, and dinner dates. Since you came out to me, you have blossomed and bloomed in the most perfect way. I love being able to talk to you about makeup, hair, and all sorts of other girly things.

Sure, we have our arguments and disagreements, but we always end up laughing it out and we know that each of us would walk the entire Earth for the other one. I know that being gay in today’s society isn’t the easiest thing to do, and for your courage and determination, I am so very proud. You deserve the best in life, and I am so blessed to be walking through this crazy world with you by my side.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
