Dear younger sibling,
I simply wanted to take the time to say thank you for everything. When I'm away at school, it is hard to find the time to truly show my appreciation for you. Despite our age difference, you are my go-to person. You're the one I can go to when I'm sad about a boy or happy about an accomplishment. You're easily my favorite person and the one who I hope to share laughs with forever, even when we are both old.
The day when my parents told me I was going to get a little brother or sister was one of the greatest days of my life. Growing up as a single child was pretty boring. All I wanted was someone to hangout with at home when I was grounded from playing with friends. Waiting nine months for you to enter the world was the hardest thing I have ever had to wait for. However, when the day finally arrived, I was the happiest big sibling in the world. I knew I was gaining not only a younger sibling, but a forever best friend.
I'm not going to lie, we have had our ups and downs throughout the years. We have had our countless arguments, name calling and pushes here and there. And we can't forget those times when we "hate" each other and dramatically storm off and slam our bedroom doors. But it's safe to say that there have been more ups than downs. As you have grown older, we have only grown closer. We do so much together, even if it is only going on a car ride with the windows down singing along to our favorite songs. The adventures we have had thus far are some of my favorite memories and I can't help but be excited for what is coming. You have been there by my side through all of the good and bad times. You take the time to listen to me rant, even if it is about the dumbest and most pointless things ever. I thank you for that and for so much more.
I've watched you grow up and I am so proud of who you have become. You have grown so much over the years and you will do great things. I am always going to be your number one supporter, the loudest one at your high school graduation, and the one you can always come to, whether it's 2 p.m. or 2 a.m. I will cherish our late night laughs forever. You have already made me so proud being your older sibling. I can't wait to grow even closer in the years to come and be best friends forever. I love you more than you know.
Love always,
Your older sibling
