An Open Letter To My Younger Brother

I'm so proud of you

An Open Letter To My Younger Brother
Tessa Simon

I may not always show it, but I’m very grateful that you’re my brother. A big congratulations is in order because you just graduated high school and on your way to bigger and better things. I know I’m not super happy about your decision to join the army, but that doesn't mean I’m not super proud of you. I’m your sister and I worry about you, that’s one of my jobs besides annoying you. I’m sad you won't be joining your older sister at Beloit, but I’m glad you chose a school based off of what you wanted and and not what others wanted. I just want to say thank you, for everything.

For being my first best friend- I grew up with you by my side. We use to build forts and play outside all the time. We kept each other entertained with games of “the floor is lava” and “spies”. I remember when we created cars out of cardboard and drew roads on the pavement with chalk and pretended we were driving up and down the road. We go to each other for advice and sometimes just to talk about things that cloud our minds. I’ve always had you by my side and when I’m at school I miss you a lot. Especially, when we quote movie lines in most of our sentences.

Everything’s more fun with you- Mom knows if she wants help with shopping to only take one child, because together we are not very helpful. We are too busy goofing off. It’s always a game with us. You have always been the one to make me laugh and make certain situations funny when we are suppose to be quiet.

My protector- Even though, you are my younger brother you have always acted like an older brother. You’ve always been very protective of me. When ever I had boy over you would make sure they knew if they broke my heart you would have to kill them. That’s just what brothers do.

Annoying the crap out of me- We may have our fun, but you definitely know how to get on my nerves, and vice versa. Even though you’re annoying at times I still love you.

Letting me tell you anything- I know you hate when I tell you about my period cramps or about some drama going on, but either way you still listen and complain later. Thanks for putting up with information you didn’t want to know that I tell you anyways.

We may not be blood related, but that doesn’t even matter because our bond is forever. I will miss you a lot while you’re at college but you are more than welcome to call me up anytime if you need something or just want to talk. I wish you the best of luck at Michigan State University and know you will excel in their ROTC program as a cadet. I can’t wait to hear about your first college semester experiences over winter break. Thank you for everything and I’m so proud of you.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
