Dear Friend,
Thank you. Thank you for listening to everything someone had to say. You have talked people out of mistakes, and have talked them into better opportunities. Throughout every conversation, you held no judgement and you put yourself in other’s shoes. With your help, you have worked out alternatives that have not only made people's easier, but for those around them as well. Even though sometimes your day might not have been the best, you put your life aside to make others better. Thank you peace maker.
Although on some days you have nothing, you still manage to give people everything. With the last few dollars in your pocket, you have changed someone’s world. I will never forget that hot summer day when we decided to go to the city. You saw a street performer parched, dripping in sweat from his solo Mozart performance. With the last $3 in your wallet you bought him a cold bottle of water. He didn’t want to except it, but when you put it down next to him and walked away you saw him pick it up and almost swallow the bottle whole from the corner of your eye.
Or that day when you bought food for a homeless women sitting outside of a coffee shop. You spent $7 on a sandwich for her, which left you $3 for yourself. When you gave her the sandwich she started crying.
It's amazing how the smallest act of kindness can make someone’s day. On days when all you had to do were errands you would drive back home to pick up a friend who needs to go in the opposite direction.
I will never forget the day you were driving to the other side of the state to get food with friends, but you drove 30 minutes back home to pick up someone who was having a bad day. Your friends in the car had a fit but you went back for them and they hugged you as soon as you got out of the car. That person is grateful every day.
On a similar day it was 11 p.m. when you drove to her hometown to comfort her for an hour because someone close to her called her "worthless." You were supposed to go out, but you stayed with her in the parking lot. She never forgets that night, and feels your selfless warmth every day.
Or even that day you took your friend to your least favorite restaurant because they wanted to go. As their face glowed with burgers in their cheeks, you grinned and sipped your milkshake. I could go on for days about the difference you made in people's lives.
Because of you, you have made the world a better place. You are appreciated by everyone you have helped (even though you don’t hear it every day). If you ever need something, there are plenty of ears to listen; speak up. Thank you for everything you do and everything you are.
Sincerely,
The Person Who Cried On Your Shoulder
P.S- Never change.
