Dear Future Self,

I know you're going to read this someday, whether you want to reflect back on how life is now or if you're having a rough day and need a pick me up. I'm writing this to you because I want you to know what I have in store for you and what I wish for you to become. I want you to be able to reflect back and know that you have succeeded and are going in the right direction. I want to remind you of how good things are going and how hard you are working to become the person you are today. I also want you to be living in the present, remember the past is the past. I know you've made mistakes and you've let people go that you wish you hadn't. These things don't matter anymore, they're over and you have moved on. It's time to focus on your dreams and yourself for once. It's a new day, a time for new experiences and opportunities.

First and foremost, I hope you're genuinely happy. I hope you're waking up every morning with a smile on your face and ready to take on the day. You've always been a pretty happy person I hope that hasn't changed. I want you to be making others happy as well spreading your joy and contagious smiles. Sharing yourself with a loved one and letting him in, showing him what it truly feels like to be loved and cared about. Leading you to eventually having a family of your own, teaching them these wonderful tactics of life that you have learned over the years.

I know you've had a lot of dreams for your future; I hope they've come true. I especially hope that you didn't back down when things got hard. I know you're stronger than that. And if you did back down, you need to get up and get back on track. You're better than that.

You've always said you wanted to see the world, where have you gone? I hope you've done some traveling. How about living in a big city? That has always been a big dream of yours. Where are you now?

Have you gone hiking yet with dad? Spent a few days out in the woods? I bet he would love to see you and show you this great adventure that he has gotten to experience. If you haven't, you should give him a call and make a plan.

I hope you're taking good care of yourself and staying healthy. You're going to need a good health to be able to fulfill these dreams and goals I have set for you. Keep going to the gym and eating well-balanced meals, however, there will always be those exceptions for some Ben and Jerry's on those rough days. I know how you work. But I hope you're still looking good as well as feeling good.

Most of all, I hope you're still the same person you are today. I hope you still laugh at yourself on the daily, have a big heart and cherish the little things in life. Right now, in this moment you're on top of the world. You're doing your best at everything you do, striving to reach these goals you've set. You're not letting anyone or anything get in your way; you're independent. You've already surpassed your more difficult times in life; you're stronger than ever.

I hope you're staying true to yourself as years go by. I hope you haven't changed much and if you have, hopefully it's for the better. I hope you're enjoying life and the good days are overpowering the bad days. I hope you've been successful with your career and are following your heart. You deserve the best remember that.

Sincerely,

Your Present Self

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
