Ahh, the weekend. For some, it’s a great time to relax and decompress from a stressful week of classes and such. This could include watching movies, spending time with your friends, taking much-needed naps, or even going to sleep early to catch up on your sleep. For others, the weekend means that it is time to party. This letter is dedicated to those people. It’s time to share a thank you or two!
Thank you, for singing karaoke at 1:30 in the morning. Really, I appreciate it. You know, I was really forgetting the lyrics to Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind” but you guys helped me remember it! I don’t know how to repay you! Next weekend might I suggest some Imagine Dragons? You’ve got to change up the pace every now and then.
Thank you, for drunkenly yelling and screaming in the hallway as you go to and from your parties. If I’m not looking at the time, your yelling and screaming helps me know what time it is! If you guys are coming back, most likely it’s around 1 to 2 a.m. and I really should be sleeping. Thanks for the reminder!
Thank you, for giving me a pleasant reminder that our CA is gone for the weekend. Your screaming and shouts that you can do anything you want since he’s gone basically lets me know that I should put in my headphones for the remainder of the night. When I can still hear you over the music, it reinforces the fact that he’s gone and basically anything is free game.
To put in some honorable mentions, I would like to include: the loud crashes and bangs that I hear from above my room, the occasional sound of something breaking, maybe the chance of running up and down the hallway at 3 a.m., or even the rare instance of campus police being called to the building.
Now, don’t think I’m telling you not to party and have fun. It’s college. You guys do you. The weekends are prime time to party and if that’s what you want to do, go for it! I won’t stop you; probably no one will, it’s your choice of how you want to spend you weekend. I’m not bashing on anyone for partying, that’s what you want to do and that is perfectly fine!
I, however, am the kind of person who likes to spend their weekends doing much more mundane things. I like staying in on Friday nights (despite being told that I am "lame" for doing that). I like watching movies with my friends in my dorm room. I like going to bingo once a month on the off chance that I’ll actually win something. I like spending simple time alone with my friends. Everyone has their own viewpoints of what is best. I don’t bash you for doing what you want with your weekend, so please don’t bash me for what doing what I want with mine. Please, just let me sleep. My morning classes take enough away from me.
Sincerely,
The stressed, tired college students who just want to have a nice, simple weekend.
